Automatic Composition of Timed Petrinet Specifications for a Real-Time Architecture

چکیده
Ideally, a system’s design starts with a formal model. However, in the real world, many systems are designed without a formal model in mind. For these systems, it is hard to show that a formal model meets the informal design. In this paper, we demonstrate on the example of the composable Message Scheduled System (MSS) architecture how to bridge the gap between a rather informal description and a formal Timed Petrinet model. We discuss, how modeling can be done in a “natural” way, so that the mapping between system and model components and the composition of model components is rather obvious. Also, we introduce the tool MGen that support the automatic generation of Petrinet models for the MSS architecture.

Automatic Synthesis of Timed Protocol Specifications from Service Specifications
Several methods have been proposed for synthesizing computer communication protocol specifications from service specifications. In real time applications, the time required to execute the events can be crucial and has to be considered. Some of the protocol synthesis methods do not consider timing constraints and, therefore, cannot be used in real time applications. In this paper, the assignment...
متن کاملExecutable Specifications for Real-Time Distributed Systems
One of the challenges in designing distributed, embedded systems is the paucity of formal, executable specification notations that provide support for both real-time and asynchronous communication. This paper describes a timed architecture design language (Timed Architecture Interaction Diagrams or TAID) that, by virtue of its formal, executable semantics, combines the benefits of synchronous s...
متن کاملAutomatic Analysis of Embedded Systems Specified in Astral
A prerequisite for successful software development is the availability of a complete and consistent software requirements specification. One way to asses the correctness of requirements specifications is the application of formal verification. Recently, the verification tool Uppaal [12, 16] has become available. Uppaal performs automatic verification of properties of real-time systems through m...
متن کاملAutomatic Verification of Real-Time Systems with Rich Data: An Overview
We present an overview of the results of the project “Beyond Timed Automata” of the Collaborative Research Center AVACS (Automatic Verification and Analysis of Complex Systems) during the period 2008–2011, which advances the automatic verification of high-level specifications of systems exhibiting the three dimensions of process behavior, complex infinite data, and continuous real-time—beyond t...
متن کاملTimed Modal Specification - Theory and Tools
In this paper we present the theory of Timed Modal Specifications (TMS) together with its implementation, the tool Epsilon. TMS and Epsilon are timed extensions of respectively Modal Specifications [Lar90, LT88] and the Tav system [GLZ89, BLS92]. The theory of TMS is an extension of real–timed process calculi with the specific aim of allowing loose or partial specifications. Looseness of specif...
